Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why should I hire an event planner?

A: As planning your wedding or any event can take up to closely 150-200 hours, Blue Ivy has the planning cycle down to a science. We have over 10 years of experience working with vendors, defining the risks, allocating budgets, and of course, the luxurious eye, and the wherewithal to get the best bang for your buck throughout every aspect of your event. Let's not forget that even if you plan your own event, now you still have to manage everything you've been planning on the "day of"! This day alone calls for roughly 16 hours of attention that day, plus hours and hours of phone calls, and agenda planning before hand for the multiple parties involved, hence we offer day of wedding coordination. For conferences you need several people behind the scenes, for weddings you need at least a planner who can focus on making sure everything is running cohesively in the back-end, for social events, you wont be able to focus on your guests if you are the one pouring the drinks! The list goes on. Blue Ivy not only relieves you from any worries, stress and sleepless nights that you are bound to experience, but we enable you to participate at your event, which is the whole point! Since we work in the industry, we are familiar and cognoscente of who to work with in the bridal arena, the corporate arena, which catering staff to hire, and who to trust. It is our job to know all of the low-end, high-end, and medium-end professionals in your area, as well as constantly updating those lists. You lose time trying to figure this out, nor will you get the best price because we know the tricks to the trade and we have many relationships already made! We guarantee to save you time and money by only scheduling vendor appointments with those that fit your style, brand, vision and budget criteria. Let's put it this way, you never buy a house without an agent, you don't tour vacations without a guide, and you don't spend a lot of money without expert advice and professional help when planning your event! Blue Ivy is confident you will find our approach to event planning both cost effective, resourceful and time-saving! (Plus fun and super creative!)

Q: Can I afford to hire an event planner?

A: Absolutely! Blue Ivy has carefully designed packages that are affordable. While hiring another vendor may seem costly, a wedding planner can offer valuable advice to save you time and money.

Q: Do I need a wedding planner even though my family members or friends offered to help out?

A: Yes. Not only will your personal planner act as a neutral agent for you and your needs, but we will also provide you with the high quality level of service that you deserve. Even though family members have good intentions, they do not have as much experience as an event professional. Plus, your family and friends deserve to enjoy the day as much as you do and not spend it working. A professional will not be delayed due to a long lost family and friend that wants to chat with them about old times. Instead we are strictly there to keep the day running smoothly and on track.

Q: My reception venue has a coordinator; do I still need to hire an event planner?

A:Yes! If youre trying to decide whether or not you need a wedding planner since the venue offers an in-house coordinator, there is quite a difference between those two. Here are just a few of the many things that a wedding planner can help with that a venue in-house coordinator can't: Attending vendor meetings with you and asking the right questions · Reviewing all your vendor contracts for errors or potential problems · Helping you combine all the elements and create an overall wedding style · Creating extensive time lines for you · Staying in touch with your vendors and making final confirmations · Have back-up reputable vendors to contact in case of a problem · Assist you with invitations and stationary etiquette · Provide you with custom planning resources · Assemble packages, favors, centerpieces, welcome bags, invitations, and any other project that arrives with multiple steps. There are many venue in-house coordinators who do a great job managing the venue but it isn't there job to assist you with all the details, etiquette, time lines, etc. that go along with planning your wedding. When in doubt, just ask them what services they will be providing for you.

Q: How do I choose which wedding planner to hire?

A: The most important thing when selecting a Wedding planner is to find someone that you trust and feel completely comfortable working with. With all of the decisions to be made in the upcoming year and the amount of time you are going to be spending together this is extremely important. You want to go with a planner that has the experience transforming visions into reality. You want your planner to be available, adaptable, cultured and unbiased. And finally, make sure that you pick someone who isnt just awesome at organizing your project but also hones creativity and resourcefulness so that your event will get it's money's worth!
